The Spanish artist Planells works with installation art and printmaking; her graphic work gives rise to a multitude of images that divert the viewer’s attention towards a different temporal dimension. In these works, starting from the urgency of the present, she moves on to a reflection on intense memory as a testimony to the past and a constitutive element of our present selves.
Everyday objects take on an alienating and symbolic value. Telephones, pegs and alarm clocks are the fundamental characters of a surrealist alphabet that reconstructs reality, unfolding a universe that is at times playful.
In the exhibition, places and fragments of objectivity flow, which (rather than being purely aesthetic) serve as a source of powerful perceptual mediation. In the realm of contemporary iconography, one of the essential points of reference is, once again, the analysis of everyday life distilled through distinctive, evocative perspectives… Although the work begins with a technical and formal departure, there is a thread of continuity running through the artist’s oeuvre.
